Choosing a wedding venue in Piedmont for your celebration
Over the past few years I have photographed weddings across many corners of northern Italy. The wedding season in Piedmont is long, running from May through November. Each month brings its own mood and its own sense of what is unfolding in the nearby vineyards on the very day of your wedding.
Below are a few wedding venues to suit a wide range of budgets.
Piedmont is one of the few regions where there is still a whole layer of places that do not call themselves “wedding venues”.
Sixteenth-century villas, medieval towers with 360° views, monasteries with their own vineyards. All of it works through recommendations and direct calls. That is exactly why the prices here are different, the contract is different and the whole attitude toward what happens on the estate is different.
Below are 15 venues that I know personally or through colleagues who have worked at them. From family-run agriturismos around Asti to an abbey with a barrel sauna and frescoed halls. With prices, formats and an honest breakdown of who each place suits and who it does not.
Category 1: Family villas and agriturismos (€15 000–35 000)
Family-run places often do not invest in advertising and do not pay the aggregators. They survive on recommendations, and that is exactly why they keep their prices reasonable.
1. Torrazzo Nuvoli, San Damiano d’Asti
One of the most intriguing places in the region. The Conti Nuvoli family are winemakers with five hundred years of history. A medieval tower with a full 360° view, all of Monferrato laid out before you. They host events and make their own wine. This is not a “wedding venue” in the touristy sense. It is a living estate that welcomes guests. That is exactly what you pay for.
2. La Villa Hotel, Mombaruzzo (Monferrato)
A sixteenth-century palazzo converted into a family boutique hotel. Named the best wedding location in Piedmont in independent rankings. Hosts from 20 to 150 guests. Handles everything in house: catering, music, décor, transfers. There is a pool with a view over the hills. The main advantage: the owners are on site, with no chain of agents and managers. You feel it.
3. Langhe Country House
A small country residence in the heart of the Langhe, mentioned by a local photographer as one of the properties in the €25 000–35 000 range for 30–40 people. Ideal for a full multi-day buyout, the “just your people, just your rhythm” format.
4. Casa Scaparone, Alba (Monferrato)
A historic residence a few kilometres from Asti, right among the vineyards. Rustic and boho-chic in feel: a stone courtyard, Barbaresco barrels as a backdrop for the aperitivo, long wooden tables with no cloths. One real wedding here was described like this: “a ceremony under the old willow, a banquet among the barrels with a band in the corner of the courtyard.” Prices are not published, but the place positions itself as an intimate venue, which means it is not mass market.
5. Villa La Favorita, near Alba
A farmhouse with a garden right beside Alba. Six rooms, an eclectic interior, a green park. Suited to very intimate weddings of 15–25 people. One of the few places where the feeling of a private home is kept completely intact.
Category 2: Boutique hotels with vineyards (€35 000–70 000)
6. Villa La Madonna, Langhe
A restored nineteenth-century farmhouse with 18 rooms, each with a terrace or balcony and a view over the vineyards. Ideal for a full buyout: all your guests stay on site and the pace is set by the couple. A combination of boutique hotel and venue, with no need to shuttle guests in from outside hotels.
7. Villa del Borgo (Relais Villa del Borgo), Canelli
Six luxury suites with views over the vineyards of Canelli and Asti. A maximum of 30 guests, and that is the point: the property deliberately works in an ultra-intimate format. A professional wedding team experienced with international couples.
8. La Torricella, Langhe
An agriturismo with its own vineyards, its own kitchen and views across the whole region. What sets it apart: the catering is entirely local, everything grown here or by neighbouring estates. This is not an “Italian menu” option. It is real regional produce on the table.
9. Tenuta Armoria, Langhe
An estate in the heart of the Langhe, rustic and elegant at the same time. Well suited to formats where the whole party stays overnight. The owners work actively with the destination wedding market.
10. Villa Sparina, Gavi (Monferrato)
An old farm among the vineyards with an outdoor pool. Its own Gavi DOCG production, wine quite literally from the estate. Elegant but never pompous. Ideal for couples who want a wine estate with no pretence of a “castle.”
Category 3: Historic castles (€50 000–100 000+)
11. Real Castello di Verduno
A castle that once belonged to the Royal House of Savoy. The hunting villa of Victor Emmanuel II. Today it is a hotel with 16 rooms, a 60-seat restaurant and its own vineyard. Run by the Burlotto family across three generations. A garden, a swan pond and a “Path of Reflection” through century-old trees and vineyards. A working photographer who has shot here lists it among the venues realistic for a budget of €30 000+.
12. Relais Sant’Uffizio, Penango (Monferrato)
A former seventeenth-century monastery among the Barbera vineyards. It hosts up to 170 guests for a large reception or intimate ceremonies. Its own chapel for 13 people, deconsecrated, for an intimate ceremony. It holds “Casa Comunale” status: you can hold an official civil ceremony right on the grounds in the presence of the mayor. That is rare. Most places require a separate trip to the town hall.
13. Relais San Maurizio, Santo Stefano Belbo
A former abbey turned into a five-star hotel with a Michelin restaurant. 31 rooms with unique décor, frescoed halls and views over the Moscato vineyards. Breakfast in the frescoed chapel, exactly as it sounds. A sauna built from Barolo barrels. Rooms start at €300/night, a sense of the level. For couples whose wedding budget has no ceiling and who want the very best in the region.
14. Villa Beccaris, Monforte d’Alba
A historic villa with gardens and a view over Monforte, one of the most frequently mentioned places in Reddit threads about the Langhe. A refined atmosphere, a professional team and experience with international couples.
Category 4: A new generation of luxury
15. Casa di Langa, Alta Langa
An eco-luxury resort set on 42 hectares with views of the Alps. Villa Agreste is a separate private complex with its own banquet hall for larger weddings. The Fàula restaurant focuses on local produce. Popular in the BBB community as a place that pairs an ecological philosophy with flawless service. It is the most “magazine-worthy” property in the Langhe, this is where editorial shoots happen most often.
16. Il Boscareto Resort & Spa, Serralunga d’Alba
A modern luxury hotel set right above the Barolo vineyards. A glass spa block, a panoramic restaurant, impeccable service. For couples who want a five-star format without the historic trappings, everything clean, bright and contemporary.
A final tip: reach out to the agriturismos and boutique hotels directly, the ones that usually do not present themselves as a wedding venue.
