Civil wedding photographer in Munich
I am Inna, a wedding photographer based in Munich. I photograph civil weddings at the Munich Standesamt and in the towns around the city. I speak English, German and Russian, so couples from abroad and their families feel at ease with me.
Ceremony and a walk: 1 to 2 hours. Many couples only want photos of the Standesamt and a short walk afterwards. For that, 1 to 2 hours is enough. I photograph the ceremony, the first hugs and congratulations, your family and friends, and then we walk through the city for your portraits.
A civil ceremony in Munich is short. The Standesamt holds a ceremony every 15 minutes, so the important moments come one after another. I arrive early, look at the light in the room and keep an eye on your guests, so nothing is missed.

Civil ceremony, portraits and dinner
Other couples want the whole day. We start at the Standesamt, take portraits in the city or at your hotel, and then I stay with you for dinner and the party.
J & I’s Turkish-Lebanese wedding was like this: the ceremony, portraits at Hotel Bayerischer Hof and in the city centre, then dinner and dancing at Pageou in the Fünf Höfe.
E & C married at Standesamt Grünwald, just outside Munich, and celebrated with their family at Käfer Stammhaus on Prinzregentenstraße.
Where you can marry in Munich
Most couples in Munich marry in one of the two wedding rooms of the Standesamt München: Ruppertstraße 11 or Mandlstraße 14. Mandlstraße is in Schwabing, right next to the English Garden, so it is easy to go for portraits after the ceremony.
If you live in Pasing-Obermenzing, Aubing-Lochhausen-Langwied or Allach-Untermenzing, your ceremony is at the Standesamt Pasing.
On some Fridays the city also holds ceremonies in the New Town Hall on Marienplatz and in Nymphenburg Palace. These dates are given out by lottery, so the city suggests booking a regular date at Ruppertstraße or Mandlstraße as a backup.
After the ceremony you can have your own champagne reception in the bistro area of the Standesamt at Ruppertstraße 11 and Mandlstraße 14. There is no catering there, you bring your own drinks.
Outside the city, my favourite is Standesamt Grünwald. The rooms are bright, there is a lot of daylight, and the people who work there make the ceremony very warm.
Portraits after the ceremony
In the city we can walk to the English Garden, through the streets of the old town or stay at your hotel. You can see how I work in the city in this couple session in Munich.
If you want lakes and mountains, we can leave the city. Eibsee at the foot of the Zugspitze is about an hour and a half from Munich. The softest light and the fewest people are there early in the morning or close to sunset. Tegernsee is closer, about an hour away.
You can also do this on another day: a short civil ceremony in Munich, and a relaxed couple session at the lake a day later, without guests and without a rush.
More places in Bavaria: Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Neuschwanstein Castle.
Questions about civil weddings in Munich
How long do we need a photographer for a civil wedding in Munich?
For the ceremony and a short walk, 1 to 2 hours is enough. If you also want portraits at your hotel and dinner with your guests, I stay with you into the evening.
Do you speak German and English?
Yes. I speak English, German and Russian, so I can talk to everyone at your wedding: you, your families and your guests.
Which Standesamt in Munich do we go to?
It depends on where you live. Most couples marry at the Standesamt München, in the rooms at Ruppertstraße 11 or Mandlstraße 14. If you live in Pasing-Obermenzing, Aubing-Lochhausen-Langwied or Allach-Untermenzing, you go to the Standesamt Pasing. To register your marriage in Munich, at least one of you has to be registered in the city. If you both live somewhere else, you can still marry in Munich, but you start at the Standesamt of your own town.
Can we have a champagne reception after the ceremony?
Yes. At Ruppertstraße 11 and Mandlstraße 14 you can have your own champagne reception in the bistro area. There is no catering, so you bring the drinks. It is also a good moment for family and group photos.
Can we marry at the New Town Hall or Nymphenburg Palace?
Yes, on some Fridays. The city gives out these dates by lottery, so it is a good idea to also book a regular date at Ruppertstraße or Mandlstraße in case you are not drawn.
Where do we take portraits after the ceremony?
Close to the Standesamt: in the English Garden, in the old town or at your hotel. If you want lakes and mountains, we can go to Eibsee or Tegernsee, on the same day or on another day.
Can we also have film photos?
Yes. I can add a roll of 35mm film, Kodak or Fuji, to your coverage. The film photos are developed, scanned and added to your gallery.
Do you photograph civil weddings outside Munich?
Yes. I have photographed civil weddings at Standesamt Grünwald and at Falkenstein Grand near Frankfurt, and I also photograph City Hall weddings in Copenhagen.
How do we book you?
Send me your date, the Standesamt and the time of your ceremony through the booking form. The ceremony time decides the rest of the day, so it is the first thing I ask about.
